To Become a Mason
To become a Mason, a petition
must be sent to a Lodge in your area. If you are in
Spokane and interested in Spokane #34, go to the 'Contact Us' page and send and email
stating your interest in joining. You will be contacted
as soon as possible for the rest of the process.
Facts About Becoming a Mason?
In a world where everyone
seems to be soliciting products, services and club
memberships, it may seem strange that Freemason's do
not solicit members.
The reason behind this is
not because new people aren't welcome, but because of a
longstanding tradition of the Fraternity to respect each
man's freewill. This means, you
must ask to join out of your own interest and desire. In the
end, this makes more sincere Masons.
The bottom line is, we aren't
going to invite you.
If you want to become a
Mason, the process starts simply.
You ask us by filling out
what's called a "petition." If you have a
friend or family member who's a Mason, start by asking
that person. If you do not know a Mason, the petition
link is all you need to get started.
Once you fill out the
petition, give it back to your friend or send it to the
Lodge you petition. For example, if you petition
Spokane Lodge 34, you would send it to our
address or contact us for help.
This starts the process
of making you what we call a "candidate." That's
our way of saying that you are someone who has shown an
interest in becoming a Freemason. You will soon be
given a call by a Mason about the rest of the process that
is basically designed to familiarize you with the
Fraternity and let the Fraternity get a chance to know you
also. It's a bit like an interview to see if you and Freemasonry would make a "good fit."
But don't wait for
an invitation. If you think you want to join our Fraternity, it starts
by you asking. You need not fear asking. By asking, you
will be given helpful information to enable you to make an informed
decision long before you make any formal commitment.
